Jeanfield Swifts made the short trip down Balhousie Street to face local rivals St. Johns in league action. Having already beaten St. Johns three times this season—including a 6-2 win on the opening day, a 7-1 triumph in the League Cup Final, and knocking them out of the North of Tay Cup - Jeanfield were looking to extend their dominance.

St. Johns set up defensively, sitting deep in an attempt to frustrate the Swifts. However, the deadlock was broken in the 19th minute when K. Mitchell delivered a pinpoint free-kick into the box. K. Sime rose like a salmon at the back post, guiding a looping header over the goalkeeper to put Jeanfield ahead.

Just before halftime, the Swifts doubled their lead. A precise pass from K. Brown found J. Jardine, who beat his man and smashed the ball past the keeper.

Jeanfield continued their dominance after the break. In the 53rd minute, K. Brown sent a ball in behind the defense, allowing K. Mitchell to break free and lob the keeper with a composed finish into the bottom right corner.

St. Johns, aided by the wind, responded in the 57th minute after a quick ball over the top caused issues in the Jeanfield defense. A failed clearance fell kindly to the St. Johns striker, who made no mistake in beating the keeper.

Buoyed by their goal and the conditions, St. Johns threw everything at it, attempting to pile on the pressure however, the St.Johns didn't create any chances and it wasn't long before the Swifts regained control.

In the 80th minute, K. Brown delivered another outstanding cross, met by B. Calderwood, who powered a header into the net.

Five minutes later, K. Mitchell whipped in a dangerous cross that the St. Johns goalkeeper failed to clear. K. Brown reacted quickly, flicking the ball up before heading it into the open net to seal the win.

To add to St. Johns' misery, one of their players was shown a red card for dissent in the dying moments.
