Jeanfield Swifts made the trip to Dundee to face Invergowrie AFC in the quarter-finals of the North of Tay Cup, knowing they were in for a physical battle. Having done their homework, the Swifts expected a direct approach from their opponents—but even they were taken aback by just how relentlessly Invergowrie hoofed the ball forward at every opportunity.
Despite the challenging, bobbly pitch making flowing football difficult, Jeanfield looked the more composed side. Their patience paid off in the 11th minute when a sharp throw-in from K. Mitchell caught Invergowrie off guard. A. Phillips' clever dummy drew a defender into a handball, leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot. A.Abboud stepped up and coolly sent the keeper the wrong way, giving Jeanfield a deserved lead.
From that moment on, the Swifts' defense became an impenetrable fortress. Invergowrie huffed and puffed, launching long balls into the final third, but Jeanfield’s backline stood firm. The second half saw plenty of end-to-end action, yet neither goalkeeper was truly tested as the Swifts expertly saw the game out.
With a disciplined and resolute performance, Jeanfield secured their place in the semi-finals.
Full-Time:
Invergowrie AFC 0
Jeanfield Swifts AFC 1

Man of the Match was Kris Sime who was a rock in defense. While every defender put in a stellar shift, it was Kris Sime who was awarded it for his commanding presence at the back.
