Jeanfield Swifts traveled to Blairgowrie to take on Alyth AFC in league action. With perfect footballing conditions, the stage was set for an exciting match.

However, in the 20th minute, a low-driven corner across the goal found K. Brown unmarked at the penalty spot, and he fired home through a crowd of players to put Jeanfield ahead.

Jeanfield doubled their lead in the 39th minute when K. Mitchell delivered a well-placed free kick to the back post, where K. Sime was waiting to guide the ball into the net with his knee.

Alyth responded immediately after halftime. In the 46th minute, a misplaced clearance from the Jeanfield keeper fell to an Alyth striker 30 yards from goal. With a quick touch, he struck a well-placed shot over the keeper to bring his side back into the game.

Jeanfield reacted strongly, stepping up the tempo. In the 53rd minute, K. Brown played a perfectly timed through ball to J. Jardine, who broke the offside trap and calmly slotted past the keeper to restore the two-goal cushion. Just two minutes later, Jeanfield struck again. After some neat build-up play down the left, A. Smith delivered a low cross from the byline, and J. Jardine finished first-time to grab his second goal of the match.

The final goal came in the 65th minute when A. Phillips beat his man and unleashed a shot that crashed off the bar. K. Brown was in the right place to follow up and tap it in, though Phillips claimed the goal. After review, the referee and the dubious goals panel credited Brown with the finish, while Phillips was awarded the assist.

Jeanfield continued to dominate and created more chances, but Alyth’s goalkeeper made several excellent saves to keep the scoreline from increasing. Alyth’s challenge was made even harder in the 70th minute when one of their players received a second yellow card—having already been booked in the first half for kicking the ball away, he was dismissed after a late challenge on K. Brown.
