The Jeanfield Swifts traveled to Blairgowrie to face Alyth in the North of Tay Cup and delivered a dominant performance, securing a high-scoring victory.
First Half
The Swifts started brightly, finding the net twice within the opening four minutes. In the second minute, A. Abboud delivered a long cross-field pass to R. Shillian, whose pinpoint cross was flicked on by K. Mitchell to J. Howie, who finished at the back post. Just two minutes later, R. Shillian lifted the ball over the defense to A. Abboud, whose cross found K. Mitchell. The midfielder smashed the ball into the net.
The Swifts extended their lead in the 16th minute when a K. Mitchell corner saw A. Abboud capitalise on a goalkeeper error and score with a free shot. The relentless Swifts struck again in the 23rd minute after a series of quick one-twos down the right flank set up R. Shillian to cross for A. Abboud, who slotted home with ease.
However, the Swifts suffered a setback just before halftime, with N. McNicoll forced off due to an injury.
Second Half
Alyth came out stronger after the break and pulled one back in the 53rd minute. A well-delivered free kick resulted in a goal as the Swifts momentarily switched off.
The goal seemed to ignite the Swifts, who responded with three quick strikes. In the 57th minute, Kros. Brown threaded a perfect pass to A. Abboud, who calmly sat the keeper down and tapped into an open goal. Three minutes later, another R. Shillian cross found K. Mitchell, whose effort was saved by the keeper, but J. Howie bundled in the rebound. In the 62nd minute, Kros. Brown set up K. Mitchell again, and the striker blasted past the keeper for his second of the match.
Despite chances for both sides in the remaining minutes, neither could add to the scoreline.
