Jeanfield Swifts AFC hosted Glynhill Moorcroft AFC in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup at the Riverside, with the visitors arriving in high spirits, bringing a busload of supporters. Perhaps a touch too confident, Moorcroft's warm-up looked casual, as if they anticipated a walkover. The Swifts, however, had different ideas.
On 2 minutes, a smooth bit of play got things underway as A. Abboud held up the ball near halfway, spotting K. Mitchell making a run. A precise pass allowed Mitchell to lob the keeper, putting the Swifts ahead in style.
On 4 minutes, Glynhill responded quickly, with a well-timed ball over the top finding their striker, who controlled it smoothly and found the back of the net to level the score.
On 21 minutes, Jeanfield pressed on, with M. McLeod orchestrating a slick attack down the wing. His cross to the back post found A. Abboud, who smashed it home, reclaiming the lead.
On 26 minutes, another breakthrough saw McLeod round the keeper before unselfishly squaring it to K. Brown, who tapped into an open goal.
On 31 minutes, R. Shillian whipped in a cross, and there was Abboud again, perfectly positioned to head it past the keeper.
On 73 minutes, with a free kick, Mitchell again played provider, delivering the ball to a lurking Abboud, who finished with ease, completing his hat-trick.
On 80 minutes, a corner won by K. Sime led to chaos in the box, with the keeper making an initial save before N. McNicol pounced to smash it in from close range.
On 84 minutes, A. Philips added a touch of finesse with a clever flick through to J. Jardine, who rounded off the scoring by blasting home.
In the end, the Swifts' impressive performance dismantled any expectations of a Glynhill domination
