Jeanfield Swifts travelled to Kettins for the second round of the Ashleigh Cup in a match that saw them dominate the second half after a goalless opening 45 minutes. Despite Jeanfield's constant pressure, the first half ended in a stalemate, with the Swifts knocking at Kettins' door but unable to find the back of the net. The breakthrough finally came early in the second half.
At 47 minutes, Jeanfield took the lead when a penalty was awarded after J. Howie was fouled in the box. A. Abboud stepped up and confidently slotted it home to make it 1-0.
Eight minutes later, at 55 minutes, Jeanfield doubled their advantage. R. Shilian delivered a well-placed cross, and M. McLeod was on hand to meet it, making it 2-0.
The Swifts were in full flow by the 70th minute. After some brilliant football, R. Shilian slipped the ball to A. Philips, who finished with an audacious lob over the keeper to put Jeanfield 3-0 ahead.
Just two minutes later, at 72 minutes, A. Smith's cross found J. Howie, who rose high and powered a header into the net, extending the lead to 4-0.
At 77 minutes, Jeanfield wrapped up the scoring when Kros. Brown played a precise through ball to M. McLeod. One-on-one with the goalkeeper, McLeod calmly slotted the ball home, making it 5-0 and sealing a dominant performance.
