Jeanfield Swifts Community Football Club (JSCFC) held its Annual General Meeting on July 07 celebrating a year of growth and success. The meeting had representation from every section, highlighted key developments set a very positive tone for the future.
Key Highlights:
• Youth section New Teams & Achievements: New teams for 2017 and 2018 are thriving, and the 2006 and 2007 teams had competitive seasons. The 2010s won the DDYFA 2nd Division, the 2008s won the Fife League Cup and the U17s (2007s) won the YFS Cup in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. Thanks were recorded to Alan Esplin who concluded a ten year spell with the 2006 team and as a committee member.
• Girls Section Success: The Girls section continues to grow, thanks to Kev Johnston and Steve McLean’s leadership, the section celebrates it's 15th Birthday this year and celebrations are planned.
• First team and under 20s remained competitive in respective divisions. First team's Scottish Cup run and 20's league finish were highlights, several 20's players featured for first team across the season. Thanks were recorded to John Boag for long service to club both as President of the first team committee but for all his dedication and support over the years with youth teams and on facilities overall.
• Amateurs - Thanks were recorded for Jimmy Carle, who stood down after three very successful seasons as manager. Mark Allison takes over. Pathway success has also been in evidence for Amateurs.
• Walking Football - Section reported healthy levels of participation and interest, plans to continue growth and attend international tournament
• Community Engagement: Stuart Ballantyne joined as the new Football Development Officer and provided an initial update including expanded schools programme, refugee activity and a very positive performance from the first wave of Summer camps.
• Financial Health: The treasurers report confirmed the community club remains financially stable and thanks were recorded to all parents supporters and funders. Greater
• Facility Developments: Lounge and dressing room refurbs noted as very successful developments. Plans to increase lounge availability for all sections across the club. Funding required to allow secure access for wider community in daytimes. Plans for all-weather development continue and it was noted that these plans require increased engagement and support from across the extended club family of parents, supporters and partners.
Looking Ahead:
Secretary Iwan Davies confirmed the club’s Gold Quality Mark status. The committee thanked the club's many sponsors and partners including PKC, SFA, Live Active for continued support and collaboration.
With a solid structure in place the club is well placed to continue its progress on all fronts. The SCIO will takeover all aspects of the community football program and future facility development. The community club committee will continue to be responsible for all aspects of organised football outside the first team. As the new season approaches the importance of new energy and renewed commitment from all teams and volunteers was emphasised.
Alan Esplin, Iwan Davies and Steve Antoniewicz stepped down from roles as Treasurer, Secretary and Chair respectively and new nominations were welcomed.
Steven McLean was elected as new secretary. The roles of Treasurer and Chair remain open and new nominations are welcomed for these posts with August 18 set as deadline for election of new officers.
The Chair's closing remarks praised the collective spirit and positive attitude of everyone at the club which once again enabled us to continue the club's development on and off the field. Special thanks were given to all the wider club family, for their continued support to all volunteers and to everyone present.
