Tony Holt arrived at Simpson Park in the summer of 2003 stepping up from Swifts Under 18s before departing the Riverside in 2018.
A fantastic and ultra talented midfield player he would often arrive late in the box along with training nights, matchdays and any other club function. His goalscoring record for a midfielder is fantastic and better than many strikers who have wore the Black & White.
His best season came in 2015/2016 when a year after missing a whole season with a serious injury his 29 goals saw Swifts claim the Premier League title.
A great lad who loved being at Jeanfield. Numerous times he had better offers to go elsewhere but the club was on his door step and he just loved playing for the Swifts.
These days he is playing in the amatuer ranks with St Johns but it wont be long until he is back in Swift colours.
POSITION - Midfield
PREVIOUS CLUBS – Jeanfield Swifts & Luncarty
WHICH TEAM DO YOU SUPPORT – Rangers & Liverpool
WHO IS THE BEST PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – I will have to go for the strikers I have played with throughout my career. Without them I wouldn’t have been the player I was. Billy Carle, Mark Caldow, Robbie Holden, Chris McLeish but the best would have to be John Anderson. We had some understanding and the link up between us was frightening.
BIGGEST JOKER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – Gavin Mackie. I got these new Adidas Hi Tops and I came back from training and my sock was stuck to the side of them. Great but I don’t mind a bit of banter.
MOST INTELLIGENT PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – Can only be Ross Gunnion. He always seemed to know what he was talking about and used these big words all the time during his teams talks. Very motivating but he did go on a bit too long!!!
LEAST INTELLIGENT PLAYED YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – Easy one this, Kevyn Fowler. I remember one day at an away game the gaffer was talking and doing his team talk and I just looked at Kev. Like most team talks we was in his own wee world but he then looked at Mitch and we couldn’t help but laugh for the next 10 minutes.
MOST INJURED PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH? – Stevie McAllister. Great player but always seemed to pick up a knock.
FUNNIEST FOOTBALL STORY FROM YOUR CAREER? – It was at Simpson Park and Billy Carle had just scored and he was running to celebrate in front of his family who were at the game. As he was running I pushed him over and he just rolled about laughing for about 5 minutes. Brilliant days
DIRTIEST PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH OR AGAINST? GIVE A REASON WHY – Mark Gordon. Hated each other. He would always mark me when we played the derby games with Kinnoull and just kick me all game long. When Bogus signed him for Jeanie I was not amused but the gaffer said he would benefit the team. 1st training session he tackles me at knee height. I stood up and told him that we are now team-mates and he doesn’t need to do that anymore. Did a great job for us and his now a good friend.
3 CELEBS YOU WOULD INVITE FOR DINNER – The real Ronaldo as he was my favourite player and I love him. Stevie Gerrard as he is another id love to meet him. Kendal Jenner is another as id love to see what she actually looks like and maybe have dinner. Id also do anything to meet my hero Tupac Shakur
CRAZIEST GAFFER YOU HAVE PLAYED UNDER AND A REASON WHY? – Murray McDowell. Honestly came in at half time one game and went crazy at me and someone else. Id never seen anyone go that crazy before but I could see what he was trying to do with the club at the time.
WORST MOMENT IN FOOTBALL? – That would be being out of football for a year with an injury. Doctors told me I should never play football again.
BEST MOMENT IN FOOTBALL? – It has got to be coming back from that injury and scoring 29 goals as we won the Premier League. That and scoring against Kinnoull which was always an fantastic feeling.
